For this reason, OA Cloud has joined the 'Data Spaces Kit' program, an initiative promoted by Red.es and dependent on the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, which seeks to boost the data exchange ecosystem in Spain and accelerate the adoption of models based on open data.
This membership opens new opportunities for current and potential media outlets within the OA Cloud ecosystem, facilitating access to advanced data infrastructures and grants intended for integration into sectoral data spaces.
A data ecosystem to boost journalism
At the heart of this initiative is OA Cloud Data, our advanced open data platform, designed to facilitate the generation of data-driven journalistic information and sectoral analysis.
Its purpose is clear:

The platform allows public institutions and private entities to integrate and publish datasets, offering journalists, analysts, and citizens the ability to access, process, and reuse information systematically and efficiently.

What is OA Cloud Data
OA Cloud Data is an Open Data platform designed for media, institutions, and organizations working with structured information.
Its technological architecture integrates advanced tools for data ingestion, processing, analysis, and publication.
Data ingestion and management
The platform allows for the integration of datasets from public and private institutions through automated normalization and validation processes.
Its capabilities include:
- Integration of multiple data sources
- Automated ETL processes
- Dataset versioning and change control
This allows for the maintenance of a reliable, traceable, and updated information repository.
Programmatic access and advanced processing
OA Cloud Data facilitates data access and reuse through interoperable technologies.
Among its main features:
- REST and GraphQL APIs for programmatic access
- Semantic search and advanced filtering
- Data transformation through reusable pipelines
- Interoperability via open standards such as JSON-LD, RDF, or CSV/Parquet

The Data Spaces Kit Program
The Data Spaces Kit is a public initiative endowed with 60 million euros, designed to boost the participation of companies, administrations, and organizations in sectoral data spaces.
Its goal is to foster interoperability, public-private collaboration, and the development of new economic models based on secure data exchange.
The grants cover costs associated with:
- Joining data spaces
- Dataset preparation
- Publication of data products
- Technical connection to the ecosystem
Grant amounts vary depending on the type of entity and its role within the data space:
Private and public companies with economic activity
- Up to 15,000 euros as participants
- Up to 30.000 euros as data providers
Public administrations
- Up to 25,000 euros as participants
- Up to 50,000 euros as providers
Applications can be submitted until March 31, 2026, and are granted on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted.
